Title: Tree Assessment Officer, Permanent - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week

Salary Range: $89907.72 to $104487.69 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

Our opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Tree Management Officer, the Tree Assessment Officer position supports the organisation through the management of public and private trees, maintenance, and compliance. The position specifies and coordinates activities, approves work affecting trees in accordance with statutory requirements and best practice principles as well as monitoring WHS compliance supporting Council’s duty of care to the community by managing the risk associated with tree resources and assets within the LGA.
The key focus areas of this role include:

  • Tree inspections, assessments, and mitigation recommendations. 
  • Assessment of trees on development sites. 
  • Liaison with contract service providers.
  • Tree asset renewal, auditing, and compliance.
  • Provide advice for review and implementation of Council’s Tree management policy and strategy and other related documents.
  • Teamwork in accordance with Councils core values.
  • Provide high level arboricultural advice.
  • Investigate and report on damage to public and private trees or property. 


About you:

What you will bring to our team:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision together with a commitment to working in a team environment.
  • Strong focus on Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Level 5 Arborist Qualification in Arboriculture (AQF5), or relevant tree management qualification related discipline.  
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience with demonstrated prioritisation skills and the ability to manage a large workflow in a process driven environment.
  • Current Class C (minimum) NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • General Worksite Induction Ticket.
  • Well organised and good level of computer literacy.
