Title: Team Leader, Floodplain Planning & Response, Permanent - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week (can be worked over a 9 day fortnight)

Salary Range: $115201.97 to $133884.1 per annum + super + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance (subject to skills and experiences)

Role Purpose
The Stormwater & Floodplain Engineering team delivers strategic and operational management of stormwater asset and floodplain risk programs across the Northern Beaches Council area. The services are delivered using highly developed project and contract management skills, asset and risk management skills, together with the effective use of systems for creating improvement and efficiencies. The team operates in three distinct sub teams: Stormwater Operations and Planning; Stormwater Design & Delivery and Floodplain Planning & Response

 

Reporting to the Manager, Stormwater & Floodplain Engineering, the Team Leader, Floodplain Planning and Response, is responsible for the effective and efficient management of flood risk and planning on the Northern Beaches which includes:

  • Strategically plan and deliver Council’s floodplain risk management program in accordance with the State Government Flood Prone Land Policy, Council’s risk management responsibilities, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Lead the floodplain management program and the Floodplain Planning and Response Team.
  • Setting and enforcing applicable development standards, co-ordinating flood risk management actions and works (e.g. lagoon and Dam openings, flood reduction projects, community education), scoping and proposing projects, writing and administering contracts, reviewing budgets, coordinating consultants, administering consultative committees and documenting key processes and implementing systems improvements.
