As a member of the Chief Executive Team, the Director, Planning and Place, leads and manages the Planning and Place Division in delivering excellence in client service delivery and achieving results for the Northern Beaches Council and Community. 

 

Our opportunity:
The key focus areas of this role include: 

• Providing effective leadership and management of the financial, performance and resource functions of the Planning and Place Division, which includes Strategic and Place Planning, Development Assessment, Environmental Compliance and Place and Economic Development.
• Driving the overall strategy and planning regarding Council’s programs for regulation and enforcement, development applications, sustainable land use and design development, and economic and business development to ensure that Council achieves excellence in service delivery to the community.
• In collaboration with the other members of the Chief Executive Team, contributing to the development of Council’s strategic direction through the development and implementation of community and operational plans and delivery programs.

The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in senior leadership positions, ideally within the local government or a related public sector setting. They should demonstrate a proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and effective stakeholder engagement. 

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities are essential for success in this role.
